Idaho Road Trip

USU's school of business has been broadcasting their MBA program for the past couple years. BYU Idaho approached us last fall about broadcasting up to their campus since they didn't have the resources to start their own program. I've been traveling up to Rexburg here and there over the past couple months to get this thing up and going. This weekend the instructor was originating from Rexburg for the first time and I had to travel up there to make sure things ran smoothly. The classes are Friday nights and Saturday mornings so we got to take a little road trip for Valentine's Day. This would have been a really boring trip but having my family with me made it very enjoyable. This weekend was nice because they only held class on Friday night. We had fun swimming in the pool, checking out what Rexburg had to offer (not much) and just hanging out with each other in the hotel room.

On our way home today he stopped at Lava Hot Springs and soaked in the hot pots. Robby is getting more comfortable with being in water more and more each time.

The weather was unusually warm so we walked around town, browsed in a couple shops and got some ice cream cones and candy. It felt like spring outside and there was actually a flood warning in the area with all the rain and snow melt run off.

If you know Lava there are some train tracks right across the street from where we took the picture above. A train came right before we took the picture and Robby was waving and yelling, it was so cool when we saw the little engineer's window slide open and stick his hand out and wave back. Robby thought that was pretty awesome. Such a fun weekend and it ain't over yet. My parents are coming up for lunch on Monday so we are looking forward to being lazy tomorrow and spending time with them then. Monday night we are watching Matt and Emily's kids so they can have a night out. That should be fun and I'll have lots of pictures to introduce you all to their new baby boy Marcus, or Thor as he is most commonly called.

Work Videos

Lil Robby usually steals the show on this blog but here are a few videos of some cool stuff I've been doing at work. These videos were produced by a furniture company we collaborated with in the design of one of our latest distance education classrooms. A couple weeks ago I presented at my first professional conference (ACUTA) down in Phoenix on this kind of stuff. My presentation topic was on Breaking Down Barriers Using Video Conferencing, it was a pretty neat experience.

Union Station

Lil Robby and I have had a great weekend while Karli is down in Phoenix for Jenny's bridal shower. On Friday we went sledding in all the new snow but after one ride down the hill he was done and just wanted to play on the playground equipment. I really didn't mind, I probably would have called it quits after carrying him up the hill a few times. After Robby ate a really good diner we went to the Bluebird for a banana split, it's my favorite place to go get ice cream because of the old soda fountain shop feel it has to it. After that we went to the Fun Park and had all sorts of fun. Saturday we woke up and went down to Union Station in Ogden.

This a pretty popular spot for family pictures, groups were constantly showing up even in the rain.

Robby had a good time operating whatever this little thing is. He also enjoyed playing with the gravel surrounding the exhibits in this room. All this neat stuff and he immediately goes right for the rocks.

Checking out the golden spike. I thought this was the actual one but after looking online now I guess several were made and I don't know the significance of this particular one. I found it hard to read all the exhibits like I normally would, this little three year old is not very good at staying put in one spot for very long.

Cut out of a real engine cab, Robby had fun driving the train. (I think I had more fun driving it than he did)

Memorial Day Weekend 2011 Video

This was one the first videos I posted to the blog. It was originally posted in such low quality that I thought I should fix it up a little.
