A lot has been going on the past little while so here are some pictures of what we've been up to lately. The big news is our little family is going to get a little bit bigger next April. We'll find out the gender in about two weeks, keeping our fingers crossed for a girl.

Mt. Emer Hike
Here I am standing on the top of Mt. Elmer (9,676 ft.) this weekend. That's Beirdneau and Logan peak you can see in the background. The hike was a total of 11 miles with around 3600 feet of elevation gain. Took me a little over 5 hours hiking time. I started on the trail at 9 am, got to the peak at 12:15 pm and stayed up there until 1 pm. I was back at the car at 3 pm and my knees aren't thanking me for that. Weather was cool and the fall colors were great near the bottom portion of the trail.

Cub Scouts
Robby started Cub Scouts a couple weeks ago and last night he was awarded his Bobcat. Robby is very excited about scouts and is eager to "earn every badge there is".
Being an eagle scout myself it was neat to have my son pin the parent badge on me. I look forward helping him along the way, it has brought back so many fond experiences from my scouting days.

Goodbye Summer
As summer has officially ended last week and fall is definitely in the air, here are some pictures of fun things we did that I never got around to posting. Karli and I celebrated our 9th anniversary in Idaho and Jackson Hole this year. Many weekends were spent at Bear Lake and up Logan Canyon at our favorite picnic spot, cooking dutch oven dinners and making s'mores. Sad to see summer end but I love having four well defined seasons and I'm looking forward to seeing the fall colors. Halloween is lil Robby's favorite holiday, he has already been asking to break out the spooky decorations.

White Pine Lake Hike
Last weekend we hiked up to White Pine Lake in Logan Canyon. It was about 8 miles round trip, Robby kept pace, didn't have any piggy backs and rarely complained. Next time we'll have to bring our fishing poles.

Solar Eclipse - Twin Bridges, Idaho
We had a great time watching the eclipse in the totality at Twin Bridges campground in Idaho.
The six hour drive home (which should have only taken 3) was totally worth it. What an absolutely incredible thing to witness. Didn't have a solar filter for my camera so this is the only shot I have.

Naomi Peak Revisited
While the young one was away on a camping trip with his grandparents and cousins we went back up to Tony Grove and hiked to the top of Naomi Peak. This area is too good, absolutely beautiful around this time of year.

T Ball
T Ball ended a few weeks ago. Robby is ready for the big leagues next year. He had an outstanding coach this year that really helped the team learn instead of complete chaos. He's looking forward to playing baseball next year and soccer academy coming up in the fall.

Naomi Peak hike
Here are some pictures of a hike we took up by Tony Grove Lake. It was nice to get up out of the heat and find some snow in July.

Old Ephraim's Grave
Here are some pictures from when we recently visited Old Ephraim's Grave up Logan Canyon. Old Ephraim was the largest and last grizzly bear on record in Utah, he was about 9 feet 11 inches tall and weighed around 1,110 pounds.

Beirdneau Peak Hike
Today I hiked up to Beirdneau Peak from the Preston Valley Trailhead in Green Canyon. It was such a great hike, this was my first time up there. The weather and scenery were beautiful and I only saw one other hiker on my way down. About 10 miles round trip with 3300 feet of elevation gain. Started out at 6:50 am and was back to the car by 12:56 pm. I spent 40 minutes on the top.

Free Fishing Day
This weekend went to the Bear River Celebration at Willow Park. I thought about dragging my fishing gear out that I haven't touched for years but this event sounded so much easier than that. The kids loved practicing their casting and visiting all the informational and crafting booths. Such a well put on event, we will be back next year. We also went up Logan Canyon and made a little dutch oven chicken. The Logan river was almost up to our picnic site that is usually about 20 feet away from the bank.

Ray Hugie Hydro Park hike
This last weekend he hiked to the Ray Hugie Hydro Park at the mouth of Logan Canyon from our house. The park is really just grass and a swing set but it was more about the journey than the destination.

City of Rocks
For Memorial Day weekend we decided to check out someplace new and headed up to City of Rocks Natural Reserve in Idaho. We had a great time learning about the Oregon/California trail and climbing and hiking around on the rocks. Robby completed everything for the Junior Ranger program and was so excited to get his first Junior Ranger badge. Definitely someplace we can go back to when it's not so busy.

Soccer
Robby started playing soccer this year with Northern Utah United. Tonight is his last game of the spring season. Thankfully, the couple inches of snow we got yesterday has already melted away.

Sproul Spring Break
After tax season was over we took a trip down south. We got out a lot in the week we were down there. We checked out the lava tubes a bit in Snow Canyon our first day. Found some cool petrogylphs on an awesome little hike in a canyon near Santa Clara. We took the Quail Creek Reservoir overlook trail and then spent the rest of the day soaking up the sun and throwing rocks. Sunday we went into Zion and hiked the river walk trail, the Virgin was running high and the Narrows were closed. Robby was excited to go to a place he recently saw on a Coyote Peterson video. We set out for an adventure to a new place near Gunlock. The temperature was nice but too windy to relax and hang out all day like we had planned. Of course we had to make a day trip down to Mesquite for bowling and arcade games. We hit the Dino Cliffs trail on our way out of town since it's practically right off the highway.

Winter Highlights
Here are some photos of the highlights from the past few months. Things are pretty busy for us during tax season so I haven't been posting as much as I'd like to.
